The UCLA Division of Graduate Education proudly announces Dr. Tené T. Lewis, Professor of Epidemiology at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health, as the keynote speaker for the 2025 Doctoral Hooding Ceremony on Thursday, June 12 at 3 p.m. in Royce Hall.
A nationally recognized expert in health psychology and psychosocial epidemiology, Dr. Lewis focuses her research on cardiovascular disease in at-risk women. She has led multiple NIH R01-funded studies exploring how psychosocial stressors and resilience affect health outcomes in African-American women.
The American Psychological Association honored Dr. Lewis with the Early Career Award and the Dalmas Taylor Award for her impactful research on minority health. In 2024, she contributed to the national dialogue on women’s health as a featured panelist at the White House Women’s Health Research Initiative, joining leaders such as First Lady Jill Biden.
Dr. Lewis also holds fellow status in several prestigious organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research (ABMR). She previously served as president of the Society for Biopsychosocial Medicine.
