Doctoral Hooding Ceremony Postponed

To ensure the safety of our community, the UCLA Graduate Division will not be holding the traditional in-person Doctoral Hooding Ceremony as previously scheduled on June 11, 2020. Unfortunately, we will have to delay this year’s event until it is safe to hold large gatherings on campus. More information regarding an in-person ceremony will be shared as it becomes available.

Virtual Celebration for the Doctoral Class of 2020

In the interim, to celebrate this milestone, a Virtual Celebration for the Doctoral Class of 2020 will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 5 pm PDT. This will provide an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of doctoral graduates in a communal way, with mentors, peers, family and friends.

The 20-minute virtual celebration will start with brief congratulatory remarks from UCLA leaders and school/division deans. We are also honored to have actor, writer, neuroscientist, and distinguished UCLA alumna, Mayim Bialik, offer a brief congratulatory message. Department chairs will then give a virtual toast to our doctoral class of 2020. Lastly, instructions will be provided on how to access the list of doctoral graduates and the graduate celebration pages that recognize each graduate who responded to our invitation to participate. The graduate celebration pages highlight their name, the degree being awarded, their major, dissertation title, dissertation committee chair(s), and their photo.
