Due to the COVID19 pandemic, some applicants who were admitted for Fall 2020 were able to defer the start of their studies at UCLA to Winter, Spring or Fall 2021.

The UCLA Graduate Council recently announced that programs may decide to defer Fall 2020 admitted applicants for one additional term, to Winter 2022.

Applicants admitted for Fall 2021 may be deferred to Winter, Spring or Fall 2022.

Note that deferral is not automatic, and the decision to defer matriculation is made entirely at the discretion of the admitted applicant’s major program. Some programs may not offer this option. Please contact your program directly to inquire whether this option is available to you.
