In addition to the University's minimum requirements and those listed above, all applicants are expected to submit a goal statement (1000 word maximum) describing professional goals and rationale for applying to the program The following are also required: (1) A master's degree in nursing showing completion of advanced practice coursework. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 and an official transcript is required for all master's degree coursework. (2) Evidence documenting completion of a minimum of 500 clinical hours during the applicant's master's program or previous post-master's program; APRN national certification in one of the recognized APRN roles satisfies this requirement. Graduates of UCLA's APRN program complete over 700 clinical hours. (3) APRN national certification in one of the recognized APRN roles: Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Anesthetist, Nurse Midwife or Nurse Executive. (4) Active, unrestricted RN licensure for practice in California (where D.N.P. clinical hours will occur). (5) Completion of an upper division statistics course with content equivalent to Biostatistics 100A or Biomathematics 170A. (6) A resume or curriculum vitae detailing work history, professional and volunteer activities appropriate to the advanced practice role. (7) One year of experience in advanced practice role preferred. |
