Degree-Specific Admissions Requirements

In addition to the University's minimum requirements and those listed above, a Statement on Choreographic Inquiry, Experiential Background Questionnaire, and resume are required.

The department has its own screening procedure which is composed of two phases: Phase 1 is the application and video audition; phase 2 is by invitation only, for an audition and interview. The audition evaluates applicants' creative potential and technical proficiency with consideration toward applicants' primary focus.

Applicants must demonstrate exceptional promise in choreography. For phase 1 of the application process, applicants submit two video samples of choreographic work. Those invited to audition (phase 2) present an additional work. Applicants are required to prepare a statement (no more than one page) describing the works shown. Applicants should contact the program for specific guidelines.

Applicants are strongly recommended to attain post baccalaureate studies (including workshops, intensives, etc.) and/or professional choreographic experiences prior to applying to the program.
