In addition to the University's minimum requirements and those listed above, all applicants are expected to submit transcripts from all post-secondary institutions in which the applicant was enrolled, a statement of purpose, a personal history statement, and a writing sample (e.g., a course paper or a professional report). The statement of purpose should explain your interest in pursuing the Master of Social Science degree, your main areas of research interest , and what you plan to do after the degree. The statement should also discuss previous academic training as well as any relevant work experience, and should not exceed three double-spaced pages (approximately 750 words). The personal history statement is intended as a supplement to the statement of purpose. This should describe the relevant aspects of your background, accomplishments, and life experiences you wish the committee to know about when considering your application. Include any educational, personal, cultural, economic, or social experiences, challenges or opportunities relevant to your academic goals. In addition, describe any aspects of your personal background, accomplishments, or achievements that will allow the committee to evaluate your contributions to the University's diversity mission (approximately 750 words.
