This award will provide a stipend of $6,000 each to especially accomplished UCLA postdoctoral scholars recognized for their outstanding research. This prize was established in 1998 to recognize the important contributions that postdoctoral scholars make to UCLA’s research mission.
The procedures for nominating a postdoctoral scholar for this prize are outlined here. All faculty are encouraged to participate in the nominating process.
Nomination Materials: A dossier comprised of the following must be submitted.
- Nominating cover letter from the faculty mentor
- Approval by the chair
- The postdoctoral scholar’s curriculum vitae
- Up to two supporting letters of recommendation
- Nomination cover sheet
- A recent photo of the nominee
- Additional explanatory materials are required for nomination.
Chairs and unit directors are responsible for pre-screening the nominations to ensure that no more than two nominations are submitted to the final selection committee. Chairs are also encouraged to establish a point person(s) that are responsible for the coordination of the collection of all nomination materials listed above. Large departments or institutes with 35 or more scholars may nominate up to 3, and those with 60 or more scholars may nominate up to 4.

Recognition: All nominees and their mentors will be recognized at the UCLA Postdoctoral Research Awards Ceremony on September 25, 2018 at the California NanoSystems Institute. Those selected to receive the awards will be notified in advance of the event. This event will bring together postdoctoral scholars and faculty research mentors from a variety of academic areas to honor the contributions of our postdoctoral researchers.
