Post-Doctoral Fellow – Butte Lab

We are seeking an experienced applicant for a post-doctoral fellowship in an Immunology lab at UCLA (Department of Pediatrics, Division of Immunology, Allergy, and Rheumatology). Applicants need to have experience in immunology and intravital 2-photon microscopy. The project entails visualizing immune responses to infections, autoimmunity, and cancer. Applicants should be self-motivated with a track record of publication, have laboratory and analytical skills, and be a critical thinker.


• PhD or MD/PhD in Immunology or related field of study <5 years from completion of PhD 

• Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and quickly adapt to new tasks 

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with other scientists 

• Ability to function independently in the laboratory 


• Deep capabilities in intravital 2-photon microscopy and common immunology techniques

• Must be comfortable working with mice

• Experience in image analysis software (e.g., Imaris)

• Strong analytical skills, including statistics

• Meticulous laboratory technique, record keeping, and data management

• Experience with retroviral transduction techniques highly desirable

• Experience with molecular biology techniques desirable

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Conducting research as determined with Principal Investigator (PI) 

• Contribute to writing grants with the PI

• Publish results of laboratory research in collaboration with PI, including writing scientific manuscripts, abstracts and other supporting documentation

• Participate in laboratory and other seminars, meetings, educational sessions, general and specific safety training and other training sessions

• Provide mentorship and teaching to other members of the lab, which comprises of PhD or MD students, post-docs, undergraduate students and summer students

• Performs other duties and laboratory responsibilities as requested
