CIRTL: Next Steps: Leveraging Your TAR Project for Future Funding Opportunities

Completing a Teaching-as-Research (TAR) project demonstrates a commitment to both learning and education in your scholarship; this commitment can make you a stronger candidate for many grant and fellowship opportunities during and after graduate school. This one-hour, drop-in event will provide participants with:

1. An introduction to how TAR projects can align with the goals of extramural funding organizations (e.g., National Science Foundation, Ford Foundation, American Association of University Women) that financially support graduate students at various stages of the degree process (applicants early in program, at least 2 years remaining, preparing for a postdoc position, or open to any degree stage).

2. Tips on how to assess the goals of a funding organization to identify areas of mutual interest and adapt how a proposal is written for different audiences

3. Resources and strategies for finding additional large-scope (1 year/multiple thousands of dollars) or small-scope (single-event/several hundred dollars) funding opportunities through online databases and campus organizations.

This drop-in event is open to the public and will take place online on Wednesday, July 18 at 1:30-2:30PM ET / 12:30-1:30PM CT / 11:30AM-12:30PM MT / 10:30-11:30AM PT. Please note that this event will be recorded and may be shared on CIRTL’s public YouTube channel.
