Description: Join the Writing Your Federal Resume virtual (online) free presentation. This presentation explains each section of the job opportunity announcement (JOA) in an effort to better inform applicants and to assist them in selecting the right job. The presentation highlights a three part process to assist applicants in writing their Federal resume. Attendees will be shown a real JOA and walked through reviewing the JOA to determine qualifications and interest, identifying the important requirements and then tailoring their resumes with that JOA. Lastly, it will provide a quick overview of the resume builder on USAJOBS.GOV.

Description: In this hands-on workshop, graduate students and postdocs will explore the function of a resume and its major components, as well as how to reframe their work as graduate students into tangible skills employers value. Description: In this hands-on workshop, graduate students and postdocs from the social sciences, humanities, arts, and education will work together to refine their resumes for job applications, internship applications, and career fairs. Participants will evaluate and revise resumes informed by the target industry and audience.

Partipants are required to bring at least one draft of their resume and at least one job posting they are interested in applying for.

Description: Increasingly, students are pursuing careers outside of academia while applying for academic jobs. This hands-on workshop will help participants understand the differing requirements of both kinds of job searches and help them identify the market sectors and kinds of jobs available to PhDs in the humanities, social sciences, arts, and education. Students will identify transferable skills that will make them valuable to employers outside the academy as a means to identify jobs and career paths that will be personally fulfilling. Finally, students will learn time-management skills and develop a time-based action plan to tackle the dual job market. Please bring a laptop.
